How to Close the Awkward Gap After a Product Recommendation

You know the moment.

You've recommended a product. Your client is holding it. You've explained why you like it. And then...

Silence.

Now you're both standing there, and you're not sure what to say without feeling like you're suddenly turning into a salesperson.

This little moment is where a lot of estheticians get uncomfortable. The good news? You don't need a clever closing line. You just need to make the next step feel natural.

Instead of:

"So... do you want it?"

Try:

"Would you like to take this home with you today?"

Simple. Clear. No awkward guessing.

Or:

"Would you like me to get this added to your products?"

This works especially well because it naturally moves the conversation toward the next step without making the client feel pressured.

Another easy option:

"How are you feeling about adding this to your routine?"

This gives your client an opportunity to ask questions or tell you what's holding her back.

Maybe it's the price. Maybe she doesn't understand how to use it. Maybe she's interested but isn't ready today.

That's information you can work with.

And here's the biggest thing...

Don't be afraid of the pause.

You don't need to immediately fill the silence after you ask.

Ask the question.

Then let her answer.

The awkwardness usually comes from our discomfort, not the client's.

You're not pressuring her by asking if she'd like to take home something you've genuinely recommended. You're simply giving her a clear opportunity to say yes, no, or "tell me more."

The goal isn't to become better at "closing." It's to become comfortable asking for the next step.

Pause after each patient. Find your pattern. Grow your retail.
